Cloth shopping bag that folds into a pocket

I have been wanting to make a smaller cloth bag that folds into it's own pocket and would be small enough to carry in my purse. I made a cloth bag in the dimensions of a morsbag (18 by 20 inches), see the directions here.

I then added a 7 inch fully lined square for the pocket. Place the pocket at the center bottom of the bag.

When you want to fold it up: fold the bag in thirds lengthwise, then tuck the handles down and fold the bag into thirds again, and then turn it inside it's own little pocket.

Pop it in your purse and you are ready for avoiding plastic bags in almost any setting!

Bed pillows

Just a quick post to show the two large bed pillows that I made for my bedroom on the weekend. I used a coordinating fabric to the Waverly Garden Images Magnolia print on the windows.

Here's a shot with one of the windows included.

More grocery bags for Andrew and Sarah

My son and his wife requested 2 more grocery bags, so they could use them for all of their groceries. Good for them. I had a little bit left of the olive and lettuce fabric, so stretched it as best I could. Now they have 4 coordinating bags, see the others here and here.

I wonder what it would take for the US to pass a ban or tax on plastic bags as has been done in Ireland?

Kaffe Fassett bag in the Carribean

Just to let you know that the bag that I made especially for my trip to the Bahamas did get used. The weather was not a as nice as we had hoped for, as you can see by the force of the wind blowing my hair back, but it was lovely none the less. I enjoyed the colors of the water and seeing green and blooming things in January is always a treat for a Michigan girl.

A bag for my cruise trip

I am off to Florida and then on to the Bahamas on a BIG ship. I made a carry bag for this vacation from some beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabric. The bag has an inside zippered pocket which I am sure I will find useful to prevent losing little items.

Off I go, I wonder if there will be an fabric purchasing opportunities?

Litte bags and luggage tags for traveling

I am preparing for a vacation in a very sunny climate, yipee! I have made a few things from the patterns in Made for Travel by Mary Mulari.
The one at the left is made out of a cherished piece of my favorite fabric. I have had it for many years. I sure wish I knew where to get more.

The one below, with the bobby pins, is for my sister who is a hairdresser.

I have also made a couple of bright luggage tags, hopefully to help us find our luggage at the airport baggage claim area.

Cream puffs

Happy New Year!
I had a hankering for a Sanders hot fudge cream puff sundae, so this became our special New Years day dessert. Made here with peppermint ice cream. Yum!
